Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti 2020
Who does not know Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. In the year 1674, he laid the foundation of the Maratha Empire in Western India. Shivaji Maharaj fought the Mughal Empire for many years. The entire nation will remember him on the day of Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary. Shivaji Maharaj was born on 19 February 1630. His full name was Shivaji Bhonsle.
Shivaji Maharaj had his first fight with the Mughals in the year 1656-57. After the death of Sultan Adilshah of Bijapur, there was an atmosphere of anarchy, taking advantage of which the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb invaded Bijapur. On the other hand, Shivaji also attacked Junnar city and captured a lot of Mughal property and 200 horses. As a result, Aurangzeb was angry with Shivaji.
When later Aurangzeb imprisoned his father Shah Jahan and became the Mughal Emperor, by then Shivaji had spread his feet all over the South. Aurangzeb was also familiar with this. He appointed his maternal uncle Shaista Khan as the Subedar of the South for the purpose of keeping control over Shivaji.
When Shivaji came to know about the looting in Maval, he thought of taking revenge and attacked Shaista Khan with his 350 Mavals. In this attack, Shaista Khan managed to escape, but in this sequence he had to lose his four fingers.
Aurangzeb later called him to Agra to make a treaty with Shivaji, but angered by not getting proper respect there, Shivaji showed his fury and accused Aurangzeb of betrayal. Angered by this, Aurangzeb imprisoned him in the fort of Agra and guarded 5000 soldiers, but on the strength of his courage and intelligence, he managed to dodge the soldiers and escape from there.
Shivaji Maharaj had defeated the Mughal army many times during his lifetime. Later on 3 April 1680, Shivaji Maharaj died, but even today the world has not forgotten his valor and courage.
